A bit of background: 
Congresswoman Julie Johnson came to Washington from the Texas House of Representatives, where she served three terms since 2018.
 
In March of 2024, Johnson won her 10-way primary election without a runoff to become the Democratic nominee for Texas Congressional District 32 and was elected to the seat
 after 
former Rep. Colin Allred ran for the U.S. Senate.


One thing worth noting for the future: 
Texas redrew its congressional district boundaries in August 2025, and voters will elect representatives under the new map in 2026.
 
The 32nd Congressional District will go from solidly Democratic to a solidly Republican district on the new map,
 so the district's makeup and representation may change after the 2026 election.
