However, that's about to change: Crenshaw lost the Republican primary on March 3, 2026, to Texas State Representative Steve Toth. Toth defeated Crenshaw and two other Republicans in that primary. Toth will now face Democrat Shaun Finnie in the general election on November 3, 2026, and — since TX-02 is heavily Republican — is heavily favored to become the district's next representative starting in January 2027.
