Because the District of Columbia is a federal district and not a state, **you do not have any official, voting U.S. Senators.** 

However, D.C. residents do elect two **"Shadow Senators."** These individuals are not officially recognized by the U.S. Senate, they do not have an office on Capitol Hill, and they cannot vote on legislation. Their sole purpose is to lobby Congress and advocate for D.C. statehood.
