About the instrument
Civic AI Audit is a research instrument of the National Conference on Citizenship. It records what consumer AI assistants tell people about elections, and what sources those answers rest on.
Three tracks
- “A or B?” — a terse pair question across every two-candidate general-election race we track, classified by a judge model.
- Sources — daily candidate-comparison questions on a standing race set, with every cited and consulted page classified by type and lean.
- Accuracy — basic civic facts graded against sourced ground truth.
Channels
Each question is asked through official APIs, pinned to the model a product's tier runs, and through the real web products driven in a browser. Both are recorded with the model the surface reported.
